Hits & Misses of April 2014

I've decided to start a new segment - sharing hits and misses at the end of each month!

Hits
Maybelline's BabyLips Lip Balm in Mango Pie
Bought it for NZD $ 2 at NewWorld.
This is my baby! I use it everyday. Definitely soft on the lips and moisturizing.

E.l.f. Brightening Eye Color in Butternut
Can be find in Kmart for NZD $ 5.
This was actually given from a friend is my favourite to-go palette.

E.l.f. Eyelid Primer in Pearl
Retails for NZD $ 5 at Kmart.
Love it! Works really well with the E.l.f. eyeshadows.

Misses

Nivea's Hydro Care Lip Balm
Bought this around NZD $ 2 at  CountDown.
The texture is too thin. Lips doesn't really feel moisturized.

L.A. Colors Lash Building in Brown Black
NZD $4 from Bucket Deals.
They just don't do it for me. Smudging all the way.
Maybelline Cool Effect Cooling Shadow/Liner in Love on The Rocks

Works alright as a liner. Color does not really show on the eyelid.

The thing about cosmetics : Missha Signature Real Complete BB Cream SPF25 PA++ #23

I've been real busy with assignments and parties. But....I have been trying this BB Cream sample for a week.

misshabbYou can definitely see a slight gray/pink undertone to it.

Shade #23 fits nearest to the color of my skin....for now. But my skintone is definitely pale yellow-ish. That's what I found out after putting on different types of BB Cream.

My neck is slightly pale-yellowish.

I attended a friend's 21st with this on. I look like this from afar though.

  • It stays on for quite a long time, good oil control

  • Buildable, medium to full coverage,

  • Can be substituted for heavy foundation (just apply bronzer onto it, I don't have one -_- Probably should get one soon)

  • Good for winter wear, my face seems moisturized?

  • Don't really like the pink/gray undertone to it tough. What a pity. :(

  • DOES NOT HAVE PARABENS (as said on site)

The thing about cosmetics : Mentholatum Lip Balms

lipbalms

This post is specially dedicated to the Mentholatum Lip Balms!

The LipIce Lipbalm (Grape Blackcurrant flavored) comes from the same company as the Natural Treatment Lipbalm. Both retails for below MYR10(?), you can found them in any Watsons stores.

The balms have a slight difference in color.

My take on these two lipbalms.

Natural Treatment Lipbalm :

More like a lip moisturizer. Fragrance free.

LipIce Fruity Lip Balm (Blackcurrant Grape Flavor):

SPF 15+, Cooling effect caused by the blackcurrant grape flavor.

Both works well during wintertime. Their texture are quite thick, definitely can feel them on your lips. Wears off half the day tough (doesn't really stay on when you decide to drink or eat). There is not evident difference between them besides the flavor.

The thing about cosmetics : The Face Shop's Lovely ME:EX Auto Eyeliner (02 Black Brown)

eyelinerI got it from The Face Shop at The Spring when they had their year-end sales for MYR9.99 (Around NZD $4). Ended up buying 3 of the different colors. (Black, Black Brown and White)

The eyeliner's packaging is fairly simple. There's 2 tip - the crayon eyeliner tip and the eraser-smudger tip.

eyeliner2 The crayon can easily break if it is adjusted too long.eyeliner3

swatchThe eyeliner does draws on nicely tough.

Sadly, it is not waterproof. I had this on when I was blow-drying my wet hair, and after that my eyes were a mess. It smudged onto my under-eye.

This eyeliner just does not work during my stay in Malaysia and Singapore. In countries like Asia, it's not only hot but humid. My skin usually sweats out like cray. And I thought it was gonna be a different case here. Guess I was wrong. :\

Just, no. Well, for me.

The thing about cosmetics : BRTC Jasmine BB Cream

brtc2

Say HELLO to my current favorite BB Cream - BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream.

brtc3

Did I mention that purple is my favourite color? ;)

brtc4

brtc5

Pretty classy packaging.brtc6

Let's take a look.brtc7

A dab on my hand.brtc8Blended out.

What the benefits the BB Cream gives:

  • Strong moisture control for dry skin!

  • Smooth fine lines and wrinkles

  • Brighten dark and aged skin

  • Skin irritation test completed

  • Great for sensitive skin types

  • Superior moisture and water retension

My honest take on it:

  • Love the jasmine scent

  • Feels light on my skin (not sticky at all)

  • Medium coverage, can be build on

  • Average-thick texture - it's not a bad thing really!

  • Covers all my redness, natural finish

  • Good oil control (for winter / rainy days)

  • Blends well with my skin (I have fairer skin)

  • Might a little bit pricey compared to other BB Creams - I don't mind paying for something more pricey. I don't want to wreck my face. :\

Taking half of a point off it just because ain't no way there is a perfect BB Cream.

Recommended for people with fair skin. Unless you don't mind having a dislocated head with you.

Your call really. :)
